 DMU

2nd April 1978

Set: 300

Stabled in the BREL Glasgow Works yard Inverness based DMSL SC51792 has arrived for repairs / overhaul. The 'stretcher window' is clearly visible, the front passenger window behind the cab, which was hinged at the top to permit a person on a stretcher to be placed inside the coach straight from a platform. Also visible behind is Inverness allocated Class 120 TSLRB SC59683 which is still labled as a 'Buffet Car' complete with a red cantrail section denoting it's position. Bob Woolnough.

Refurbished Class 101 DMBS SC51447 is seen burnt out in the yard at BREL Glasgow Works on the 2nd April 1978. Refurbished and restored to traffic during July 1977 SC51447 was unfortunately destroyed by fire in Cowlairs Carriage Sidings, Glasgow on the 4th September of that year. Withdrawn the same month, she was eventually cut up at Glasgow Works 2 years later during September 1979. Bob Woolnough.

A view across the traverser inside BREL Glasgow Works on the 3rd June 1978 finds Class 122 DMSL SC55007 undergoing refurbishment in between an unknown Class 107 and a Class 101 driving car. An Ayrshire based Class 126 DMSL driving vehicle is on the far right of the image. Bob Woolnough.

Hamilton, Glasgow based Class 122 DMBS SC55007 is inside BREL Glasgow Works on the 3rd June 1978 high up on accommodation bogies undergoing a major refurbishment with the plating around the original 2 panel route indicator clearly visible. Transferred to Departmental service in December 1983 as TDB977223 she was finally scrapped at BREL Glasgow Works during June 1991. Bob Woolnough.

3rd June 1978

Inverness TMD based Class 120 DMSL SC51793 waits outside in BREL Glasgow Works Yard on the 3rd June 1978 for a call inside for overhaul. The opening 'stretcher' window behind the drivers cab is very clear in this image as is what appears to be a repair list written at the top of the secondmans window. Officially withdrawn in April 1986 whilst stored at Glasgow Shields Road EMD, she was scrapped at Vic Berry's Yard in Leicester the same month. Bob Woolnough.

Scrapper. BREL Glasgow Works. Class 120 DMBF Sc51784 (Set 304) lying in the sidings at the east end of St. Rollox. It's sandwiched between a condemned 303 EMU and an old departmental coach from a wiring train. Railcar suggests this vehicle was derailed in 1978 after a road vehicle struck a rail over bridge at Oyne, Aberdeenshire. Undated negative but probably circa 1985. alicia hartman.

Scrapper. BREL Glasgow Works and Class 120 DMBF Sc51784 from Set 304 awaiting its fate. Railcar suggests this vehicle was damaged in a derailment in 1978 after a road vehicle struck a rail over bridge at Oyne (between Inverurie and Insch). Photo circa Spring 1986. alicia hartman.

 DMU

1986

Set: 304

Scrapper. BREL Glasgow Works and Class 120 DMBF Sc51784. The vehicle is in all blue, the passenger door has a '1' for First Class and the yellow cantrail stripe has faded. Oval buffers at this end but 'cut' buffers at the cab end. It seems that the engines and most of the underframe equipment has been removed. This seems to be one of the ScR vehicles with the extended brake van, converted from a DMBC - see elsewhere on Railcar. The building with the roller shutter may have been for asbestos removal and perhaps the vehicle is awaiting stripping prior to scrapping? Photo circa Spring 1986. alicia hartman.
